Thailand Addicts After Dark

Phuket and the rest of the map

Outside the two capitals, the scene shrinks fast — a famous street in Phuket, small strips in the resort towns, and a provincial Thailand whose nightlife is a different thing entirely. The rest of the map, honestly:

Bangla Road, Patong

Phuket compresses its entire scene into Patong's pedestrianised party canyon — go-gos and hostess bars stacked between ordinary clubs, EDM soundclash, fire shows and selfie crowds. It's proportionally more mixed than Pattaya's districts: hen parties and families-who-misread-the-brochure share the street with the scene's regulars, which gives Bangla a chaotic carnival register all its own. The standard traps run here at tourist-decibel volume; the rest of Phuket, as our sister site maps, is another island entirely.

The resort-town pattern

Provincial Thailand: a different night

Up-country Thailand — Isaan's cities, the north beyond Chiang Mai — runs Thai nightlife for Thais: mor lam and luk thung venues, karaoke, night markets and whisky-soda tables. The tourist-facing scene barely exists, which is itself worth knowing: it locates the districts as what they are, an export industry clustered where the tourists land (the history explains the map).
